DAY 1 Sigiriya

On arrival, you will be met by our representative at the airport. Transfer to the ancient capital city of Sigiriya, built by the parricidal King Kassapa I. The UNESCO Heritage site of Sigiriya has ancient remains from as early as the 15th century BC, and this site stands as a testimony to the Sri Lankan culture, beliefs, and habits of the Ceylon rulers. The rest of the day is free for you to relax at the hotel.

DAY 2 Sigiriya

From historic sites to cultural attractions, there are a number of exciting things to do in Sigiriya. Because of its archaeological importance, the locals refer to Sigiriya as the Eighth Wonder of the World. We will visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress – one of the best-preserved examples of ancient urban planning and architecture. Later in the afternoon, we will visit the famous Pidurangala Rock, from where you can have breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including Sigiriya Rock. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 Knuckles Mountain Ranges

Check out after breakfast from your hotel at Sigiriya and transfer to the trek start point at Illukkumbura. This place is famous for the Knuckle Hill Ranges, which got their name because they look like the knuckles of a clenched fist that can be seen from many viewpoints. We will start our hike from Illukkumbura towards Manigala Mountain. We will be hiking through the lush mountain evergreen forest along the Knuckles valley until we reach the top of Manigala Mountain. Once you reach the top, you can enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the Knuckles Mountain ranges. We will spend some time on top before walking down to our hotel.

DAY 4 Knuckles Mountain Ranges

Today, we will be trekking from Manigala. We will be walking through the lush evergreen rainforest along the Knuckles Mountain ranges. After a few kilometers of climbing through the forest, we will trek down the valley and walk along the shores of the Kalu Ganga River. While on the trek, you also have the option to take a quick dip in the river. We will also be crossing a few streams and waterfalls before reaching our hotel.

DAY 5 Knuckles Mountain Ranges

We will leave our hotel after breakfast and start our trek towards Bhanalla. We will be following the forest tracks and walking through the forest valley. En route to the trek, we will visit an isolated family living in the forest for over 40 years. We will continue our trek until we break for lunch near Pathana Waterfalls – a beautiful waterfall deep inside the forest. Afterward, we will continue our trek towards the north face of the Knuckles Mountain range until we reach a planter’s bungalow situated 1000 meters above sea level with stunning views of the Knuckles Mountain ranges. Overnight stay at the Sir John's bungalow.

DAY 6 Kandy

Today we will trek a short distance from the forest bungalow to a viewpoint from where you can gaze down at the waterfalls and valleys below the Knuckles Mountain ranges. After the trek, we head towards our next base to explore Sri Lanka’s hill town of Kandy. Perched amongst the tea-clad hills of the Kandy Plateau, this is home to one of the most significant sites for Buddhists: The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic. En route, we will visit the spice gardens at Matale. Later in the day, we make our way to the Temple of the Tooth Relic.

DAY 7 Hatton

After an early breakfast, transfer to the railway station at Kandy to embark on a 3-hour train journey towards Hatton. The train journey will provide plenty of photographic opportunities before reaching Hatton and is one of the most scenic train rides in Asia. The dramatic landscape of the highlands stirs the senses as you wind past lush tea plantations, majestic peaks, and rushing waterfalls. Arrive at Hatton and transfer to Nallathanniya for an overnight stay.

DAY 8 Nuwara Eliya

In the early hours of the morning, we will be heading for a sunrise trek to Adam's Peak. Adam's Peak, also known as Sri Pada, is one of Sri Lanka’s most important religious pilgrimage sites. We will reach the summit before sunrise. As you reach the summit, it feels more like walking among the clouds. Strong cold winds can also be experienced. You could enjoy the spectacular views of the distant mountains and valleys. We will return to the hotel for breakfast. Later in the day, you will be transferred towards the tea country, Nuwara Eliya. Nuwara Eliya, also known as ‘Little England’, was the favorite hill station of the British who tried to create the place to look like a typical English village. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 9 Ella

We will leave after breakfast towards Ella, a small town in the south of Sri Lanka in the Hill Country. In folklore, it is said that the Sri Lankan demon King Ravana abducted Sita from India and kept her hidden in the Hakgala National Park. The area was offered to Sita as a pleasure garden, which is mentioned in the Ramayana (Hindu Epic) as Ashok Vatika. After lunch, trek to Ella Rock – a famous cliff located high above Ella’s village. The rock offers stunning views across the hill country and the plains below.

DAY 10 Udawalawa National Park

After breakfast, we will go for a short morning walk to visit the Ravana Falls. After visiting Ravana Falls, you will be transferred to Udawalawe National Park. We will pass local markets before entering the National Park area. The area is home to many fruit trees, and you will notice fruit sellers as well as families selling yogurt along the streets. Head to a cozy hotel with a pool to relax for the rest of the day. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 11 & 12 Bentota

Transfer to Bentota after an early morning Jeep Safari at Udawalawe National Park. Bentota is a coastal town famed as the prime beach resort of the southwestern and southern coastal belts of Sri Lanka. The city is graced by palm trees and a serene atmosphere. Bentota provides the perfect location for water sports lovers and is ideal for snorkeling, diving, sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing, and deep-sea fishing on a traditional outrigger canoe. You can spend the next two days relaxing on the beach.
